If your eyes still look tired after a good night’s sleep, the cause may have more to do with the eye area than your energy level. Our eye and brow options at Park Meadows Aesthetics in Lone Tree, Colorado, address several concerns that can create a fatigued appearance. Krista, RN, has more than 20 years of nursing experience and training in BOTOX® Cosmetic and fillers, while Kristy, RN, brings more than 23 years of nursing experience and works as an aesthetic nurse injector.
Match the Concern to the Treatment
“Tired eyes” can describe several changes, so choosing a treatment starts with identifying what is actually contributing to the look.
- Low-lying upper lids: Acquired ptosis can cause the upper eyelid to sit lower than it used to and may affect vision. Upneeq® is a prescription eye drop for acquired ptosis that temporarily raises the upper lid without surgery. It is not intended for every cause of eyelid drooping, so proper evaluation matters.
- Crow’s feet: Lines at the outer corners of the eyes often develop from repeated smiling and squinting. BOTOX Cosmetic and other neuromodulators can temporarily reduce the muscle activity that creates these dynamic wrinkles.
- Under-eye hollows: Volume loss along the tear trough can create shadows that make the eyes look less rested. For carefully selected patients, certain dermal fillers may add volume beneath the eyes. Our tear trough gallery shows examples of results from our practice, although individual outcomes vary.
- Sparse eyelashes: Thin upper lashes can make the eye area look less defined. Latisse® is a prescription treatment that helps lashes grow longer, darker, and thicker with regular use.
When Non-Surgical Care Has Limits
Not every concern around the eyes can be corrected with an injectable, prescription product, or eye drop. Significant excess eyelid skin, prominent under-eye bags, or structural changes may require a different approach.
That is why we look at the position of the lid, movement around the eyes, volume distribution, skin quality, and your overall goals before discussing options. Treating the wrong feature is unlikely to give you the improvement you wanted, even if the treatment itself is effective for another concern.
