CoolSculpting is well-known for non-surgical fat reduction, but if you’re new to it, you might be wondering what it actually involves.
At Park Meadows Aesthetics in Lone Tree, Colorado, we walk our first-time patients through the whole process. You’ll work with our trained CoolSculpting professionals, who ensure each treatment is performed with the utmost care.
During Your CoolSculpting Session
Your appointment will begin with a consultation to map out the areas you want to treat. The provider will mark the spots being treated and apply a gel pad to protect your skin.
CoolSculpting works through a process called cryolipolysis, which uses controlled cooling to freeze fat cells beneath the skin without damaging surrounding tissue. It’s non-surgical, so there’s no anesthesia or needles involved. Most sessions last between 35 and 75 minutes per area.
Once the applicator is in place, you’ll feel a strong pulling or tugging sensation as it draws a small section of your skin and underlying fat into the device’s cooling chamber. The applicator looks a bit like a curved, handheld cup and is applied directly to the treatment area, usually the abdomen, flanks, thighs, or under the chin. It uses vacuum pressure to securely hold the tissue between two cooling panels.
You’ll feel intense cold as the cooling begins, but the sensation usually fades within 5 to 10 minutes as the area becomes numb. From there, you can sit back and relax while the device continues to cool the fat cells beneath the surface.
After Your Appointment
You can return to your usual routine right away. There’s no downtime, but the treated area may feel firm, swollen, tingly, or numb for several days to a few weeks.Â
Some people report mild cramping or sensitivity. These effects are temporary and a normal part of your body’s response to the freezing process. If you’re ever unsure whether a sensation is normal, don’t hesitate to reach out.
Results take time. You may begin to notice gradual fat reduction in the treated area as early as three to four weeks after your session, with the most visible results typically appearing around two to three months. Clothes may start to fit more comfortably, and areas that once held stubborn fat may start to look slimmer.
Depending on your goals and the area treated, you might need more than one session. We’ll go over all of this with you during your consultation.
