Even with regular core workouts, the abdomen may not show the level of muscle definition you are working toward. At Park Meadows Aesthetics in Lone Tree, Colorado, our body contouring team offers CoolTone® to stimulate and strengthen targeted muscles without surgery. Taylor, our licensed esthetician and Body Contouring Specialist, has worked in aesthetics since 2014 and has a particular interest in body contouring.
How CoolTone Works the Abdominal Muscles
CoolTone uses Magnetic Muscle Stimulation (MMS) to send electromagnetic pulses into the muscles. Those pulses trigger deep, involuntary contractions in the treatment area. The abdomen, buttocks, and thighs are FDA-cleared treatment areas.
During an abdominal session, the muscles repeatedly contract and briefly rest. The process is designed to improve muscle tone, firmness, and definition in the area being treated. It can be useful for someone who is already active but wants additional help targeting abdominal muscle definition. Park Meadows identifies adults near their target weight who can maintain realistic expectations as typical candidates, so the treatment is better suited to contouring than major weight change.
What Does “Strengthening Your Core” Mean With CoolTone?
CoolTone can strengthen the abdominal muscles it stimulates, but that is not the same as building complete functional core strength. Your core involves multiple muscle groups working together to support posture, balance, movement, and stability.
For that reason, CoolTone should complement exercise rather than replace it. Strength training, regular movement, and good nutrition still matter. CoolTone is also not a weight-loss treatment or a substitute for physical therapy when pain, injury, or rehabilitation is the concern.
Muscle Toning and Fat Reduction Are Separate Goals
A more toned abdominal wall may still be less visible when localized fat covers the area. Our body sculpting services address these concerns in different ways. CoolSculpting® is designed to reduce pockets of unwanted fat, while CoolTone focuses on the muscles underneath.
If you are deciding between the two, our guide to CoolSculpting and CoolTone explains how their purposes differ. In some cases, both may fit into a body-contouring plan based on your anatomy and goals. You can also review our CoolTone before-and-after gallery to see abdominal results from patients treated by our team. Individual outcomes vary.
